If you have read my other post about
ways to fill in 3.5 and 5.25 slots, you already know that I hate having empty bays. Anyhow, my current PC, a Dell Dimension 5150 has been upgraded with 3 case fans, 1 big case fan on the side, I believe its a 92mm, a tiny case fan on the side that sucks out heat from my hard drive, I believe its a 50-60mm fan, and my Zalman VGA cooler on my video card.
Anyways, at full blast, my computer can be loud as hell, but I don't mind it during gaming since I usually drown out the sound with my speakers. But when I am just on the net or working on my laptop, I wanted a way to quiet it down.
So I picked up this Silverstone FP33 3.5 fan controller. It also comes with a PCI Slot controller that gives you the same 3 knobs so you can control the fans from the rear if you don't like it in the front. It comes in black and in aluminum color. Anyways, it works great, all 3 of my fans can be turned down to a very low speed, (Not completely off though), and obviously turned up to their highest speed. For regular use I turn my Video Card fan to a mid-low setting and the other 2 fans to their lowest setting.
Its great having this control over your fans, not only can I continue to use my computer for gaming, but now I don't mind leaving it on more often since it is not so loud.
