What is cheese play in Starcraft 2?
Cheese Play in Starcraft 2 are strategies such as:
Photon Cannon rush - A drone will sneak into an enemies base and build pylons and photon cannons usually around the perimeter of their base and build inward; or they will be build on the outside entrance of an opponent's base to keep them isolated.
Barracks fly-in - A terran player will build a barracks usually on the outside perimeter of an opponent's base and fly it in with the intent of building marines quickly inside their opponents base. Once they mass a small army, they usually with take out the mineral line.
Planetary Fortress - A terran player will do a similar tactic as the Barracks fly-in but will fly their command center into an opponents base and upgrade to a planetary fortress. Certain maps have platforms near mineral lines that are initially out of site, so if executed correctly, an opponent can build a Planetary fortress, supporting SCVs, and Turrets that will serve as a huge harassment factor in a game.
Basically cheese play is somewhat annoying in SC2, as it does not have huge strategic value; although, the video of Planetary Fortress Cheese Play does show some good micro as the player uses marines to kite enemies near his Fortress. Probably the best cheese play I have seen so far on Youtube.
