Weird screen artifacts in Day of Defeat running Windows Vista

So after having a Home Premium copy of Vista laying around for nearly a year now, I decided to give it a try again on my Dual Core Dell Dimension with 2 GB ram and ATI X1600 PRO.
The game seems to crash more on Vista compared to XP. But it runs nice for the most part and when it does crash, most of the time it recovers, which is something I haven't seen before.
One weird thing I have been noticing are screen artifacts. I have seen this from time to time on XP especially on the floors in CS, but it happens all the time on my Vista box.

Home Premium is definitely a nice system I`ve used it on my moms laptop and it seems to work great with her new gateway she got, 2 g ram and a Intel Pentium 1.6ghz Dual core the processor and memory rate 4.7/5 in the vista performance rating
