UFC 97 - Silva beats Leites by Unanimous Decision

UFC 97 was a pretty entertaining card. It looked like Shogun knew his career with the UFC was on the line and had to bring back the Shogun from the days of Pride in order to win this fight.. The Silva and Leites fight was very technical. (Read More)

The game dynamic with the zombies and teammates is truly unique and versus mode is very entertaining, but there are major multi-player related issues/bugs that are very annoying that it makes you not want to play the game (at least a multi-player game).

Ways to recycle floppy disks, floppy disk pen holder

So with a slow day at work, I noticed my office was a bit of a mess and my dinky Pen Holder wasn't able to accommodate my Sharpies and other office supplies. With an excess of floppy disks collecting dust, I decided to do something about. I basically took 5, 3.5 floppy disks and taped together with package tape. I then drilled a few holes into the corners of the disks and used twist ties to hold it in place. A great way to use old floppy disks without tossing them.

Anderson Silva beats Patrick Cote at UFC 90

In the 3rd round, it appeared that Patrick Cote`s knee popped out. People are saying it is a torn ACL.

During the 1st and 2nd round, it appeared that Silva was wisely timing his shots and dancing around a lot. Some may speculate that he wanted to pace this fight beyond 2 rounds. But on the other hand, some of the fierce shots he landed were intended for a knock out, such as a flying knee he landed clean on Cote`s face.

Overall, it could`ve been a much more entertaining fight, but at no point was Anderson Silva in any trouble in the fight.

PC Chips M848A Rev 2.1 Review

My computer at my office was an older AMD 1.8GHZ with 1 GB of ram.

For basic office stuff, it was more then fine.

Anyhow, I decided to upgrade the hard drive to a faster 7200 rpm hard drive (yes it had a very slow HD in it)

When doing so, the PC Chips M848A motherboard would not post after upgrading. Reset CMOS Jumper, nothing No error beeps, just the processor fan would turn on

This is probably the 3rd PC Chips motherboard that has gone bad on me just by doing minor tweaks. I think I had another PC Chips arrive DOA as well. Unfortunately on Newegg.com, this is the only Socket A board you can buy, and since there is a warranty on it, it is safer then buying a used Socket A off ebay.

Overall, I have found the M848A series a very unstable, temperamental system. If you have a Socket A 462 board, avoid the M848A if possible.

However, I will be testing the M848A V5.0 when it comes in and hope it shows a difference, I think this one has failed on me in the past too.

I don`t know why I keep running into this board, maybe because it`s cheap

PC Chips M848A Rev 5.0 Review

As stated in my earlier review about the PC Chips M848 Rev 2.1, the motherboard was very temperamental, did not play well with new hardware, and crashed very easily.

That said, I purchased a PC Chips M848a v 5.0 motherboard in hopes I could save my old socket 462 workhorse.

Overall, it was a success.

The board took my AMD Duron process and old 184 Pin ram just fine. One oddity was that the older M848A had 3 ram slots, v5.0 only had 2.

Anyways, all my old hardware (ethernet card, capture card, video card) worked just fine. I even got a chance to test out a mod I did to my old Radeon 9600XT. The fan burned out on it so I bought a tiny fan at Fry`s (our local tech store), and cold welded it onto the heat sink, it works great and have had no problems since.

Hard drive and DVD-rom detected just fine and everything has been smooth sailing. So I must say that Rev 5.0 is a definite improvement in terms of stability, upgrade ability, and temperament over it`s predecessor.

However, corky things such as:

1. Computer powers up when you plug Cat-5 into ethernet.

2. Only 2 ram slots.

3. Only 1 power input for case fan. I was hoping for 2 since I am using a Full size ATX case with 3 case fans. Not too worry, I also purchased a 3 pin male to 4 pin female power adapter to allow all the fans to work.

Overall, a decent motherboard for 36 bucks (after shipping + tax), much cheaper then buying a new rig.
